In the toughest measure taken to fight the coronavirus outbreak so far, the Maharashtra government has imposed curfew in the state, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced here on Monday. The move came a day after he declared a near-total statewide lockdown till March 31 and also implemented prohibitory orders till nagar panchayat levels to combat the spread of COVID-19.
The total number of coronavirus cases touched 49 in Maharashtra on Thursday afternoon with two more persons testing positive, Health Minister Rajesh Tope announced. They include a 51-year-old man in Ahmednagar with a travel history to Dubai and one woman in in Mumbai with a travel history to UK. The state has banned all flights from 12 countries besides taking extreme precautions.
Panic gripped Nagpur as four suspected coronavirus patients ran away from a private hospital late on Friday night, officials said here on Saturday. Following a manhunt, three were located and brought back to the Mayo Hospital where they were under observation since the past few days. Search is underway for the one still missing.
