4 terrorists killed in Kashmir encounter

Four unidentified terrorists were killed in a shootout with security forces on Sunday morning in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a CRPF official said. Broadband internet services restored in Kashmir

A day after the J&K administration lifted a ban on social media, the broadband internet services were restored in Kashmir on Thursday. After seven months, J&K residents are accessing social media websites on mobile and broadband connections. A government order  had no mention of whitelisting of websites as per the new government order issued on Wednesday. The order is applicable till March 17.

Two militants killed in Shopian encounter

Two militants were killed by security forces in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Saturday, official sources said. Meanwhile, mobile internet service in Shopian has been suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours. The identity of militants was being ascertained, they said adding the operation was going on when the reports last came in.

Banihal blast case: 3 youths arrested in Kashmir

Security forces on Wednesday arrested three youths in south Kashmir in connection with the Banihal blast case. Official sources said that following specific information, three youth were arrested from a village in south Kashmir district of Shopian. The arrests come just two days after police arrested Owais Amin, who allegedly drove the car, and recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) of which only one exploded on Saturday.

US ‘advices’ citizens not to visit Kashmir

United States issued a travel advisory for its citizens visiting India due to increased risk of ‘terrorism’ in Jammu and Kashmir and the prevailing tension in the country, an official statement said.
