Panic has gripped the Swabhiman area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district after Maoists threatened the locals not to use mobile phones. The Maoists warned the residents of Orapadar village under Andrapalli panchayat against using mobile phones. The message said that any villager found using a mobile phone will be punished by the Praja court. Sources said that the Maoists are stopping the locals from informing police about their presence and movement.

A Chilean military aircraft enroute to Antarctica with 38 people onboard, has disappeared off the radar, the country’s Air Force confirmed in a statement. India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket would launch the country’s latest spy satellite RISAT-2BR1 and nine foreign satellites on December 11, said the Indian space agency.
