245 file nomination for 3rd phase, 20 for 4th phase elections in Odisha

As many as 124 candidates today filed their nomination papers for the third phase elections to six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha. With this, so far 245 candidates had filed their nominations for the third phase election. While 211 filed nomination for the Assembly seats 34 filed nominations for six Lok Sabha seats.

Thirty-five unconscious following ice factory gas leakage in Pakistan’s Punjab

At least 35 people, including children, were left unconscious on Wednesday after ammonia gas leaked from an ice factory in Sargodha district of Pakistan’s Punjab. Local Urdu TV channels quoted police as saying that several workers of the ice factory and people living in the neighboring houses got affected after the gas leaked from the factory in Bhalwal area of Sargodha district.

Banihal blast case: 3 youths arrested in Kashmir

123 file nomination for 3rd phase elections in Odisha, one for 4th phase

As many as 78 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the third phase elections from six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha taking the total number to 123. With this so far 123 candidates have filed their nominations for the third phase election, 104 of them for Assembly seats and 19 for Lok Sabha seats.

Cong Manifesto promises to amend AFSPA, repeal sedition, criminal defamation laws

Congress has promised major legal reforms such as amendment in Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA)- 1958, repeal of sedition and criminal defamation charges if the party comes to power in 2019. It will amend the AFSPA in order to strike a balance between the powers of security forces and the human rights of citizens and to remove immunity for enforced disappearance, sexual violence and torture, the party said.

Sensex ends at 39,056, records all-time-high

India’s satellite destruction could endanger ISS: NASA

Nasa has called India’s destruction of a satellite a “terrible thing” that could threaten the International Space Station (ISS). The space agency’s chief, Jim Bridenstine, said that the risk of debris colliding with the ISS had risen by 44pc over 10 days due to the test, said a BBC News report on Tuesday. However he said: “The international space station is still safe. If we need to manoeuvre it we will.”

BJP flays Congress for its electoral pledge to review AFSPA in J&K

US, S Korea defense chiefs conduct talks on denuclearisation

US Acting Defence Secretary Patrick M Shanahan met South Korean Defence Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo at the Pentagon to discuss their nations’ joint efforts to support denuclearisation, peace on the Korean Peninsula and other key alliance issues. During their meeting, Shanahan and Jeong focused on the on-going diplomatic efforts to achieve a complete denuclearisation of and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
