Guterres traveled from Egypt to Libya, where he will lend support to “a Libyan-led political process” and the creation of the conditions to stabilize the situation in the country.

Senior Odisha BJP leader Pratap Sarangi has alleged that the ruling BJD had fielded candidates involved in chit fund scam and demanded a white paper on the multi-crore scam. The Government is contemplating to examine the Jet Airways’ eligibility to fly internationally, Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola said on Wednesday. The airline is presently flying less than 15 planes only. They (ministry) are examining the issue of eligibility of the airline to operate international flights, Mr Kharola said. Meanwhile, a DGCA official said the debt-ridden airline is operating 28 aircraft as on date.
At least 35 people, including children, were left unconscious on Wednesday after ammonia gas leaked from an ice factory in Sargodha district of Pakistan’s Punjab. Local Urdu TV channels quoted police as saying that several workers of the ice factory and people living in the neighboring houses got affected after the gas leaked from the factory in Bhalwal area of Sargodha district.

Security forces on Wednesday arrested three youths in south Kashmir in connection with the Banihal blast case. Official sources said that following specific information, three youth were arrested from a village in south Kashmir district of Shopian. The arrests come just two days after police arrested Owais Amin, who allegedly drove the car, and recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) of which only one exploded on Saturday.

Congress has promised major legal reforms such as amendment in Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA)- 1958, repeal of sedition and criminal defamation charges if the party comes to power in 2019. It will amend the AFSPA in order to strike a balance between the powers of security forces and the human rights of citizens and to remove immunity for enforced disappearance, sexual violence and torture, the party said.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined an urgent hearing of Patidar leader Hardik Patel’s plea seeking a stay on his conviction so he can contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. A bench, headed by Justice Arun Mishra, said there is no urgency in hearing the matter as the High Court order was passed in August last year.

A case of uncoupling of two coaches of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express occurred today when the train was running over Kathjori bridge and approaching towards Cuttack station. East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources here said the B3 and B4 coaches of the Rajdhani Express got separated while the train was passing over the bridge at about 0950 hours.
US Acting Defence Secretary Patrick M Shanahan met South Korean Defence Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo at the Pentagon to discuss their nations’ joint efforts to support denuclearisation, peace on the Korean Peninsula and other key alliance issues.
